Mini Scrapbooks
When you are new to the creative hobby of scrapbooking a large album filled with nothing but blank pages may seem a little bit daunting...where to start, what to put on the page first and where! A mini scrapbook may be your answer. Even if you are experienced in scrapbooking there may be occasions where a mini scrapbook is more suitable than a large scrapbook.
All you need to remember is: keep it small and keep it simple. For beginners a mini scrapbook won't take as much time as a large scrapbook so it will quickly give you confidence to try a larger project. Be careful to avoid putting too many items on one page, as the mini scrapbook has much smaller pages too many items will make it appear too cluttered. If you want to pro-long the life of a scrapbook, instead of getting your pages copied double sided, copy them on single-sided and then laminate the pages together back to back. Laminate the cover and then bind the mini scrapbook together - perfect mini scrapbooks for young children.
Themes for your mini scrapbook:
Vacations: You can get your younger children involved in creating these mini scrapbooks as they won't take too long to complete which will maintain their interest. A large scrapbook may take too long for a younger child whose attention span is small. They can include things like photos of them swimming, tickets to parks and zoos, brochures you've picked up, photos of where you stayed and anything from activities they have done. If they are old enough to write they could add captions of their own thoughts.
Weddings: A mini scrapbook of your wedding would make a wonderful thank you gift for attendees rather than sending out a thank you card and photo. If you had a large wedding perhaps just create them for the wedding party and the immediate family. You could even include photos of your honeymoon. Simply make one scrapbook and have it colour copied, organised into individual scrap books is a nice idea having a thank you with the attendees name, then have them bound.
Baby: Pages could include a photo of mum before the birth, photo of baby on the day he/she was born, lock of hair, first tooth, hand print, photos of friends and family that visited just after the birth.
Young Child: Pages may be themed with what the child likes; favourite toys, favourite foods, best friends, a photo of their bedroom and their pets. You can also include places they have visited and enjoyed such as the zoo or the park. This would make a great gift for grandparents or godparents.
You will think of many ideas that you could create a mini scrapbook for and they are a fantastic way to preserve memories quickly and cheaply.
