1. Be organised, you will need all of your scrapbooking supplies to be kept in a very uniformed manner so that you can quickly and easily find items you are looking for.
2. Create a form for each customer,
set this up in a template in excel and have a space for all the customers contact details, when the project was started when and when it finished. Have an area for time spent on the project and also the supplies used. Also have a space where you can write comments about the project, what you thought of the finished product, if you would change anything and the comments made by the customer. Have a filing system for these forms.
3. Have available some scrapbooks that you have done so that you can show clients who don't know you the type of work that you can do for them.
4. So now you are all organised a ready to go you need to find your customers. Firstly, you could create an amazing scrapbook for a friend or family member who has had a special event recently. Put every creative thought you have into this scrapbook and at the front have a personal message to the scrapbook receiver but also include in it your contact details. You contact details should be discrete but noticeable, that is don't have it in the same size font as the message to your scrapbook receiver, perhaps at the bottom in a smaller font with
your name, contact details and a slogan that suggests that you do this as a business . this is a great way to showcase your scrapbooking talents and word of mouth is a very powerful marketing tool. For example if a family member has recently had their first baby and you put together a scrapbook of this special occasion, it is likely over the next few months they will have alot of guests who come to visit the new born...and if the scrapbook just happens to be on the coffee table imagine how many people will pick it up and have a look through. If you do a fantastic job of the scrapbook your receiver will be proud to show it off, their friends will want you to do one and before you know it you will have a handful of new customers. Do a great job for them and they to will be proud to show it off, can you see how this can grow your business from one free scrapbook. You also need to look further afield than just your friends and family, how about the local school newsletters, busy brides, church groups, sports teams, there will be many people who would like to create scrapbooks either for themselves or to give as gifts but simply don't have the time. You need to make these people aware that you can do it for them; advertise in newsletters, put notices up on notice boards (you may need permission first), put flyers in letterboxes and let people know you have a scrapbooking business. Get some business cards made up and hand them to people you meet, you don't have to be talking about scrapbooking you are simply giving them your contact details which just happens to mention your scrapbooking business!

Lastly, you will need to provide your scrapbooking clients and potential clients with excellent customer service. Ensure that you answer initial enquires in a timely manner and once you have been commissioned to create a scrapbook ensure that you finish it in the time advised to the specifications requested.
